Whole House Renovation with Rear Extension & New Garage, Sandy Lane
Project type
Whole House Renovation with Rear Extension & New Garage
Location
Sandy Lane
Client: Domestic
Project Type: Whole House Renovation, Rear Extension & New Garage
Project Overview
This project involved the complete renovation of a 1960s two-bedroom detached bungalow, transforming it into a modern and spacious home designed for contemporary family living. Our clients wanted to maximise space, improve the layout, and create an open and inviting living environment.
The project included:
A single-storey rear extension, forming the heart of the home with a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining, and family area.
A full internal reconfiguration to enhance flow and functionality.
Demolition of the existing single garage and construction of a brand-new, spacious double garage.
Challenges & Solutions
Originally, the new garage was designed as an attached structure, but during the planning process, concerns were raised about the visual impact and dominance of the property. To address this, we redesigned the garage as a separate structure, reducing its massing and improving the overall aesthetic. This revision ensured successful planning approval, while still meeting the client’s storage and parking needs.
Outcome
The final result is a modern, bright, and functional home, with a stunning open-plan living space that serves as the centrepiece of the renovation. The detached double garage enhances practicality without overpowering the property’s design. The home is now perfectly suited for modern family life, with improved connectivity, ample space, and a layout that truly makes the most of the available footprint.
